What Is a Wordle Solver?
A Wordle solver takes the colour-coded feedback from your guesses and filters a dictionary down to every 5-letter word that could still be the answer. After each guess, Wordle shows you green tiles for correct letters in the right position, yellow tiles for letters in the word but in the wrong position, and grey tiles for letters not in the word at all. Feed those clues into the solver and it does the elimination for you.
This tool checks every word against the ENABLE word list — more than 170,000 English words — and returns only the 5-letter words that satisfy all your constraints. The fewer constraints you have, the more candidates appear; as you add more clues from each guess, the list narrows quickly.
How Wordle Clues Work
Green (correct position): The letter is in the answer and in exactly that position. Enter it in the matching position box in the Known Positions row.
Yellow (wrong position): The letter is somewhere in the answer, but not where you placed it. Enter all yellow letters into the Letters in Word field. The solver will find words that contain those letters.
Grey (not in word): The letter does not appear in the answer at all. Enter all grey letters into the Letters Not in Word field and the solver will exclude any word containing them.
You can combine all three types of clue at once — the solver applies every constraint simultaneously to give you the shortest possible list of remaining candidates.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Wordle solver?
A Wordle solver takes the colour-coded clues from your guesses and filters a dictionary to every word that could still be the answer. You enter known letters, confirmed positions, and excluded letters — the solver eliminates everything that doesn't fit.
How do I use the known positions input?
Type a letter into the numbered box that matches the position of a green tile in your Wordle game. Leave any box empty if you haven't confirmed that position yet. The solver only returns words with your confirmed letters in exactly those spots.
What do I enter for yellow letters?
Type all letters that came back yellow into the Letters in Word field. Yellow means the letter is somewhere in the answer — just not where you guessed. The solver shows only words that contain every letter you enter here.
What do I enter for grey letters?
Type all letters that came back grey into the Letters Not in Word field. Grey means the letter does not appear in the answer at all. The solver removes any word containing those letters from the results.
What dictionary does this tool use?
Words are checked against the ENABLE word list — a widely used reference of more than 170,000 English words. This provides broad coverage of 5-letter words including the majority of answers used in Wordle and similar daily word puzzles.
Is this tool free, and does it work on mobile?
Yes to both. It is completely free with no sign-up required, and the layout adapts to phones and tablets so you can use it alongside your Wordle game on the same device.
